People ask me all the time if they should start a Teachers Pay Teachers store. They want to know if they’ve missed the boat or if it’s even a profitable venture to start with.
My answer is yes, start your Teachers Pay Teachers store! If you’re good at making your own lessons and they work well with your students, then you should be a Teachers Pay Teachers seller.
It’s not too late. There are many new sellers who are seeing success. Just because there are already sellers in the subject you teach, does not mean that you shouldn’t try. You might be offering something that other sellers aren’t. Maybe you offer a different perspective on lessons that make yours unique than what’s already on the market. Are there areas that are saturated, yes. The elementary levels seem to have the most sellers. If you’re an elementary seller don’t let that hold you back. Just make sure that you’re offering something that the other elementary sellers are not. Find a way to make yourself stand out from the crowd. Don’t just simply copy or post products that are similar to ones already available for a cheaper price. That won’t drive customers to you. Many customers will see the lower price and wonder why yours is lower, they may believe it is a lower quality. In fact, when I started charging more than I would pay for my products, I saw a dramatic increase in sales.
I wish I would have started selling sooner and I wish I would have taken it more seriously sooner. I know the potential Teachers Pay Teachers holds and I myself am focused on improving my store and tapping deeper into the potential that it holds. I currently have a five-figure a year store and I want to grow my own business to hopefully surpass my regular teacher salary. I know there are other sellers out there doing this and I’ve laid out a plan to see this happen for me as well. Follow me on my journey to increasing sales within my own store and I will share tips and tricks with you along the way.
